I can't help but think we are going to look back at this time Joshua was in the NICU and feel like it was so long ago and the time seemed to go by really fast! Today, however, the time seems to be going very slow! He is doing great, but it's hard because I wanted to go see him last night after our senior banquet and as I started to pull out of the drive at 10 pm to go up there exhaustion just swept over me and the thought of being up another hour or two was just too much for last night. I can't wait til I only have to walk 20 feet to see both Maddy and Joshua in their own rooms, but for this short season we have to go a bit further!
| Sound a sleep! |
He's doing great! The little guy is getting to be a bigger guy. He was 3 lbs 7.4oz last night and he was sleeping soundly when we called to check on him. They reduced his oxygen from what they started on at 5 liters per minute down to 4 yesterday. So the amount of oxygen flow that they are giving him is slowly decreasing. He seemed to do well with the decrease yesterday! He had a couple of episodes while I was holding him, but I could tell he either had some gas or was refluxing a bit. We had a fun time together!!
Specifics to pray for:
Praise God that he has had great days and will continue to have them!
That he will have less and less episodes! Though we know the cause of the majority of them are reflux, please pray that he is able to handle the reflux without dropping his heart rate or quitting breathing. You could just pray that the reflux is gone all together too!
That he continues to gain weight and eat well! He seems to be tolerating the food he is getting, pray that continues.
Pray for continued development of his entire body. He is still only at week 32, which is so hard to believe at times, but he still would have been in me for another two months if God didn't have different plans!
Pray for continued blessing and wisdom for the NICU staff as they care for baby Joshua and all the other babies in there!
We are going to the NICU support group tonight. Pray that we will be a light to other parents and God will give us opportunities to minister to them!
Pray for continued rest and endurance for the entire French family
We are praying for y'all and thanking God for the prayers and support we feel from all of you!!!
If you want to come see the little, but getting bigger, guy today, we will be there from 4:30 to 6 and would love for you to join us!!!
The next big thing:
Pray that he will get off vapotherm, in his timing, not mine:)
Also that he will breastfeed well. It is hard for preemies to suck, swallow and breath all at the same time. Advanced prayers for him to be successful at it early on would be appreciated!
